BADASS: LILY KITI
Lily Kiti is a fresh face for creativity and entrepreneurship. I was fortunate enough to connect with her this past summer and she has continued to inspire me ever since. She is truly authentic in everything she does, making her the ultimate badass.
How did you find your path?
I didn’t really find my path, I created it! I took every opportunity that came my way. I surrounded myself with people that share the same interests as me. I learn really well through people and their stories so, being able to put myself out there and work with different people has taught me a lot and helped me grow. I still have a long way to go but everything in my book has been a blessing.
How did you find what makes you happy?
I have a huge appreciation for life. It’s an amazing thing and I am truly grateful. Showing and appreciating gratitude towards all aspects in my personal life is what make me happy. Being alive makes me happy, meeting new people, feeling content with myself, doing new things!
What does authenticity mean to you?
Being true to yourself and others. Doing things that you believe in, not following what others do but what feels right for you. Being comfortable with yourself. The feeling of being true, honest, pure and raw.
Role Models: Emily Weiss, Leandra Medine & my mom
Beauty Product You Can't Live Without: Lorac TANtalizer Baked Bronzer. I love a good glow.
What is one piece of advice you would give to your middle school self?
Worry less. I’ve always contemplated the future and used to get so worked up because I’ve always had a craving to do something different, radical and bold.
What does a successful day look like for you?
Eating a good breakfast, answering all of my emails, putting together a good outfit, getting my highlight right, sending out orders, taking photos of new products and adding them to the site, talking to people I love. I like to end the day with a little reflection and a to-do list for the next day.
Must have item in my closet: Zara black high waisted jeans
What is the most challenging thing (personally or professionally) that you have had to face? And what have you learned from it?
Keeping a balance between my studies and business - when you have a business it becomes your baby. Making sure the aesthetic of my brand flows and the vibe matches. Prioritizing the important things like school before the business is challenging. I’ve learned how to prioritize and manage my time better to do well in school but also have a creative outlet and doing what makes me happy. You have to find your passion, something that pushes you through the rough and can help relieve the stress!
How do you handle tough days and situations?
Understanding that the moment will pass everything is temporary! I try to keep to myself when I have a bad day because I don’t want to spread the negativity around, it is so infectious. You just have to remain calm and stay professional.
What is a moment you are most proud of?
Being able to own my own business. I love entrepreneurship and business, it is so inspiring to me. It feels so good to be able to create a simple piece of jewelry for many amazing women all over the world. During the summer I sold my stuff at a lot of festivals and women would come up to me and say they came to this event to meet me and pick up a piece of jewelry. It’s touching! Being a positive image for younger generations, being invited to speak at schools, attending events, meeting people makes me proud of my journey.
